What does commitment bring?

What does commitment bring?

In my Kundalini Yoga Awakening Teacher Training, one thing touched me very much. It was Yogi Bhajan's "Seven Steps to Happiness". You had awakened something in me at the time. You brought a "system" into something that I already felt for myself and then became clear. Maybe it inspired me to found a yoga center!? They had made me see more clearly what had gone, why and where in my life. Why did something develop or wind up in such and such a way? What was my part in it. Up until then it was more related to the outside and over time I realized even more behind it.

The first step on the road to happiness is commitment. In German we don't like this word "obligation" that much. The energy is very hard. imprisoning. crushing. Put in chains. The duty. conscription. Discipline, … . From a neutral, but also worldly and "spiritual" point of view, it is a wonderful attitude that moves us forward in life. We shake hands to do this or not. That's how it was for me with the yoga center. Yes, I just put my hand on it! Let's do that now! Point! Departure! It just feels right! And before that, I was allowed to experience such decisions, obligations, over and over again in my life. Just like all of us... Until then, the obligation was more related to the outside. On what we do, will, are, … . That's how we were brought up. What happened then?

In the process over the years, I've learned to expand the commitment to myself. Even before that I was already in terms of my values and attitudes. But a different energy came over him now. Love! All the duties, obligations, we are allowed to enter into out of love. Love for ourselves. Love for others! I pledge to be happy?! I pledge to be alive?! I commit to being calm in stressful situations?! Etc... It becomes an inner commitment! For us! Not to a yoga center, a job, a relationship, … . No, it expands! It expands inward, to our happiness, our health, our energies, our boundaries, our transformation of beliefs, healing, and and and... love! We commit to ourselves and to our heart.

So is this something hard? Does it still feel that way when we make a commitment to our well-being? our development? our behavior? For the ego and parts that would like to heal, certainly! But for us? It's a gift we give ourselves! It strengthens us, gives us strength and confidence! We form the character of our personality into an authenticity and wisdom, connected directly to the heart via intuition! We learn to follow our heart, our intuition, our spontaneity, our connectedness, our stability and personal responsibility. We make the decision to commit. And it may sound like a paradox, but it makes us free! We live our free will in alignment with our heart to live! We live with life - "com-mit-..., give me your hand", it says to us! How do you live?
